Tax Accountant

Millennia Housing Management, LTD., a successful property management company headquartered out of Key Tower in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, is currently searching for a Tax Accountant. Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, be career driven, and be able to handle multiple duties and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Preference given to those with 2-3 years' experience in multifamily property management environment or large public accounting firm, candidates with HUD and/or LIHTC program experience, and/or an active CPA or working toward the certification.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Quarterly CAT tax return preparation and submittal for all Ohio entities.
  • Annual state or local franchise, business, personal property or income tax filing preparation and submittal for all locations.
  • Coordinate annual federal tax return processing including review and mailing of K-ls.
  • Track and process annual entity registrations and other filings.
  • Review and process for payment the CT Corporation invoices related to entity representation.
  • Review and process for payment the audit and tax invoices from the IPAs, ensuring billing is consistent with engagement letters.
  • Receive notices from taxing authorities and follow through to resolution.
  • Sales tax policy and procedure review and compliance.
  • Coordinate with Accounts Payable to issue Form 1099s by January 31
  • Request and maintain DUNS numbers, W-9s and SAM registrations.
  • Maintain unclaimed funds documentation and remit funds to the states as required.
  • Coordinate the annual filing of Form 8609 for all LIHTC deals.
  • Track entity and trade names.
  • Supervise real estate tax tracking.
  • Prepare monthly financial packages for all unaudited entities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Education/
    Experience:
    • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • Strong computer skills especially Excel spreadsheets knowledge.
    • Prior experience in tax coordination and processing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Approaches work in a meticulous, thorough, detailed and disciplined manner.
  • Demeanor consistent with that of a skilled, supportive and professional member of the accounting staff.
  • Demonstrated integrity at all times on a personal as well as a professional level.
  • Meets deadlines and manages multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Flexible with work schedule during tax season to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility with hours and schedule commensurate with workflow.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
