PROGRAM DATES: Fall Session 9/21 to 10/23/15. Late Fall Session 10/26 to 12/18/15.
REQUIREMENTS
-Must live in Southern Maine
-Must have at least a High School Diploma and be at least 20 years old
-Teaching Degree or College Degree is highly desirable but not required. (Especially a degree in education or science)
-Must have experience working with groups of children at a school, camp or after school program setting.(paid or volunteer) Having children of your own DOES NOT qualify you.
-Must be able to manage, educator, and entertain a classroom of up to 20 children (ages 5-11) at a time without an assistant.
-Must have a reliable vehicle.
-Must have a valid driver's license and current proof of automobile insurance.
-Must be available between the hours of 2:15 - 4:30pm Monday-Friday for at least 3 afternoons per week.
-Must be able and willing to travel to different locations in Southern Maine
-Must be able to attend our weekly staff meeting. (Thursdays, 5:30-6:30pm)
-Classroom/Group Management skills are a must.
-Lively, Energetic, child-friendly personality.
-Experiential or Environmental education experience highly desirable.
-Theatre experience highly desirable.

ABOUT THE JOB - The Mad Science After School Program Instructor position is a very part time job, 3-5 classes per week (6-10 hours of time commitment). Perfect for students, Ed Techs, Teachers, Retired Teachers, or others who need or want an afternoon job with a flexible schedule. As a Mad Science Instructor you will be responsible for facilitating a one-hour after-school science program with a pre-set curriculum. Each session is a very high energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on class. Each class enrolls a maximum of 20 children in a 4 or 6 week program which meets one-hour per week. All of our classes are located on-campus at various schools or recreation centers in Cumberland, York, and Androscoggin County. As an instructor you will be assigned to 3-5 classes per week. This position requires experience working with children, a fun and zany personality, and classroom management abilities. Each class will take approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours to complete as you are required to be on-site 1/2 hour before your class begins and it takes about 15-20 minutes after class to make sure kids are delivered safely to parents and to clean up.
PROGRAM LOCATIONS - We facilitate our After School programs in Portland, South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, Falmouth, Cumberland, Yarmouth, Freeport, Pownal, Brunswick, Durham, Augusta, Turner, Windham, Bridgton, Raymond, Harrison, Waterford, Casco, Gray, Westbrook, Gorham, Limington, Old Orchard Beach, Saco, Biddeford, Sanford, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Wells, North Berwick, South Berwick, Eliot, and more!
ABOUT THE PAY - The Mad Science Instructor position is a very part-time job of 3-5 After School Programs per week. Mad Science pays a flat-fee of $25-35 per one-hour class. With set up and tear down it averages between $12.50-16 per hour. Mileage reimbursement may be available. Raises are given to instructors who work for 1 whole semester (2 after school program sessions).
ABOUT TRAVEL - Mad Science classes are held on-campus at various schools and Recreation Centers throughout Southern Maine. Instructors are assigned to a minimum of 3 classes at varying locations. You must be willing to travel daily to your assigned location. Mileage reimbursement may be available depending on distance traveled. If you are scheduled for a location that is more than a 20 mile round trip, we compensate at .44/mile above the 20 miles.
ABOUT TRAINING - To be a Mad Science instructor you must attend a paid 2-4 hour Orientation and 4 hour paid Training on the curriculum. This mandatory training will give you the basics you need to translate your skills into being a Mad Scientist.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
