The quality engineer is responsible to ensure product and process predictability optimized through reduced costs, improved quality, effective corrective action, reduced cycle times, and process capability. The candidate will perform engineering and advanced quality task, which require significant knowledge and experience of engineering principles, theories, and concepts as applied to manufacturing and tooling throughout the product cycle. Develop solutions to a wide range of technical problems requiring the application of engineering and manufacturing engineering knowledge. Develop, monitor and analyze product trend data in order to optimize manufacturing performance and minimize product and process variability and associated production costs. Develop and establish problem/process root cause and definitive corrective action plan necessary to reduce: scrap, rework, and repair costs. Review customer engineering and associated documentation for the identification of customer requirements and identify/implement actions necessary to ensure compliance. Evaluate initial/existing program predictability through the use and application of quality engineering and tooling techniques. Plan and conduct analyze on manufacturing tooling to determine optimum performance, product/process improvement along with qualification to engineering specifications. Coordinate modifications to existing procedures, production process, engineering specifications, and inspection techniques. Monitor results necessary to validate improvements. Coordinate with respective customers, vendors, and subcontractors on technical issues and corrective actions. Develop product quality plan and inspection methodologies. Assist the quality assurance department in the continuous review to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the company. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The candidate must possess the outlined experience level, education, training, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications. S/he should have minimum five years of experience. The applicant should have the knowledge of aerospace company specifications and best-practices and working knowledge of the various customer and industry quality system models such as ISO 9001, as9100, FAA, etc, is desired. S/he should have strong analytical and communication skills, proficiency in ms office applications excel, power point, word, etc. Background in lean and six sigma principles including process mapping, SS, DMAIC, cellular manufacturing, FMEA, pull systems and continuous improvement events such as kaizen or six sigma projects is preferred. Working experience with formal quality improvement techniques, including statistical process control is desired. S/he should have the ability to interpret customer and industry standards, specifications, and regulations. Experience in blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning tolerance. Practical knowledge of and ability to use statistical analysis methods and tools required.
