Java Architect

The Principal Architect will have expertise in technology architecture, design and development. He/she is typically assigned to multiple projects, ranging from standalone applications to highly visible, complex enterprise scope systems with strategic technology implications.
The Principal Architect provides guidance, expertise and leadership in technical areas that include operating systems, virtualization, cloud technology, databases, network, storage, server and processor technologies, application architecture and design, and data management. In addition, the Principal Architect will provide strategic direction for emerging technologies and platforms through objective evaluations, proofs-of-concept, and working prototypes.
The principal architect understands the importance of non-functional requirements and can provide guidance to teams implementing scalable, maintainable solutions in a highly reliable production environment.
o Six (6) or more years of experience as an Information Systems professional.
o Three (3) or more years of application design, data modeling and/or architecture.
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
o Superior skills in the areas of application architecture and integration including application frameworks, design patterns, integration and inter-process communication technologies.
o Strong application development and delivery experience, in a language such as Java.
o Strong knowledge of data architecture including data modeling, relational databases, and SQL. Knowledge of non-relational databases, including NoSQL is preferred.
o Linux/UNIX and Microsoft Windows experience.
o Skilled in structured problem analysis and solution design.
o Ability to effectively apply technology to business needs.
o Ability to work on multiple tasks and adjust to changing priorities.
o Ability to work with multiple teams and fit solutions to diverse technical and organizational constraints.
o Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical content to project stakeholders.
o Specific understanding of the systems and applications used in the telecommunications, cable television and entertainment industries is a plus.
o Experience with enterprise application authentication / authorization and data security is a plusEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
