We have positions available at our Mill located in Canton, NC. Established in 1908, the Canton Mill rests in a valley in the Western part of the state, about 18 miles past Asheville toward the Tennessee state line, where the state angles down to a thin wedge on the map. As one of the largest industrial employers in Western North Carolina, Evergreen Packaging's Canton and Waynesville operations have sustained the local economy and generations of families from surrounding towns and counties for over one hundred years.

Job Description
Provide leadership and management of all the maintenance, technical and human resource functions in the Recovery Boiler, Causticizing and Utility areas that will insure safe, reliable, and cost effective operations.
Responsibilities:
oEnsure all safety policies and practices are implemented across responsible areas. Maintain high levels of accountability with subordinates for full compliance of safety actions, training or policy changes that will support attainment of safety goals for the department. Actively participate in a leadership role in attainment of safety goals identified for the mill.
oDevelop, implement or maintain effective maintenance practices that provide high levels of equipment run ability and efficiency. Monitor preventive maintenance practices, outage planning, contract service effectiveness, and scheduled work execution that attains operating plan targets.
oMonitor and analyze all maintenance spending for responsible areas. Develop yearly budgets that supports asset reliability while maintaining cost control. Communicate with and involve area management in monthly maintenance spending goals, variances, and contingency plans that support adherence to approved budgets.
oDirect or oversees any modifications to equipment or systems that would improve reliability or cost effectiveness of paper manufacturing areas.
oDevelop plans for personal growth and improved job performance for all salary employees under direct area of responsibility.
oBe knowledgeable of and participate in resolving company/union disputes as related to the Maintenance Department.
oDevelop long-term strategies for maintenance organization to align with future goals of operations.
oDrive reliability practices.
Special Knowledge Skills:
Essential:
oBA/BS degree in mechanical, electrical or related field
o5 to 10 years experience in Pulp, Recovery or Utilities
o5 years experience in management supervision
o5 years experience in maintenance/engineering
Desired:
o2 years proven experience as maintenance superintendent in Recovery or Utilities
oHigh level of knowledge in advanced asset reliability techniques and practices
oExcellent written and oral communication skills
oSound understanding of financial practices and cost measures/controls as they relate to maintenance
oWorks well with teams and can take leadership roles effectively
oHigh potential for future job growth/promotions
Independent Authority:
oConducts annual supervisor performance reviews
oParticipates/recommends on hiring decisions for maintenance and operations groups
oReviews all expense maintenance spending for Recovery Boilers, Causticizing, and Utility area
oRecommends changes to storeroom stocking levels and inventory
oRecommends/evaluates new or existing equipment modifications
