OCSD is currently looking to fill the role of an Engineering Assistant I
Under direct supervision, the Engineering Assistant I performs a variety para-professional engineering duties in support of OCSD's collection system programs for odor and corrosion control, and facilities maintenance and repairs engineering; maintains and coordinates the materials of the engineering library in providing information and assistance to engineers, contractors, developers, and the general public on the District's engineering services and activities; and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility. This person will monitor contractor sampling and data handling activities to ensure contract compliance and adherence to district policies and procedures; schedule and administer odor panels including equipment calibration and maintenance, conduct sampling, data input and management, and report preparation; and track and maintain records including financial status reports.
The successful candidate must possess educational experience equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by one year of experience in drafting or para-professional engineering duties. Additional education such as college level courses in engineering technology or computer software is highly desirable. Basic knowledge of design and construction practices and methods; Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software such as word processing, spreadsheets, accounting, computer aided drafting or diagraming, computer aided presentation, and databases; principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting; technical engineering mathematics; applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations including administrative and department policies and procedures; English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation; techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and other District staff. The preferred individual will be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; and must be in possession of, or have the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid drivers license by time of appointment.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
