Shipping Supervisor

Position
Summary:
Responsible for the daily management, administration and operation of shipping, receiving, finished goods stockroom, and raw material storage locations. This is a hands-on position in which the Supervisor is called upon to assist in any or all areas assigned.
General purpose:
To prepare and package finished product to ship out to the customers, receive raw materials, and supervise the Shipping Department personnel and plant warehouse spaces.
Position
Responsibilities:
To know the location and levels of finished goods inventory.
To coordinate the movement of finished goods from production into storage or shipping.
To prepare and package finished goods for shipping and to receive and post incoming raw material purchase orders.
Supervise all daily activities of the Shipping Department Personnel. Conduct annual performance reviews. If discipline action is required, the Shipping Supervisor and the Operations Manager will meet jointly with the employee.
Coordinate scrap materials and the removal of obsolete inventory in a cost effective and timely manor.
Coordinate lift truck maintenance programs.
Perform daily transactions (job receipts, misc. issues and receipts, move transactions, shipping transactions, etc.) to maintain inventory records in Syteline.
Cross train Shipping Department Personnel and others in manufacturing to provide around the clock for shipping/receiving as well as coverage for vacations and other absences.
Conduct cycle counts of finished products to maintain inventory accuracy; correct causes of inventory errors; participate in physical inventory activities.
Achieve and maintain ISO compliance in areas of responsibility: e.g., control of non-conforming product, labeling, scrap removal, management of materials (FIFO), preservation of product, and maintenance of infrastructure.
Handle daily phone calls and rush orders, and gather samples, all of which are Sales driven items.
To interact, communicate, and support all functional groups as required including the following departments:
Sales
Master scheduler
Purchasing
Production
Outside suppliers
Essential skills and
Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent with manufacturing and raw materials/finished product knowledge.
1 - 2 years previous supervisory experience.
Demonstrated strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated use and implementation of continuous improvement and lean philosophies
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of computer based manufacturing, inventory control systems, and automated freight systems.
APICS certification or course work, and/or experience in planning and material control a plus.
ERP/MRP experience (Syteline). Other Computer applications (Microsoft Office). Cycle counting knowledge
ISO 9000 knowledge.
Forklift certification and licensure.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
