The Carroll County Times is looking for a talented Online/Multimedia Producer to create quality content and grow audience across platforms for the Carroll County Times online (www.carrollcountytimes.com) and news publications.
In addition to daily monitoring of the websites, this person will focus on creating new digital content and enhancing the online content the newsroom is producing. He/she will have the necessary technical skills, journalism experience and knowledge base of regional news to be able to look at a story and immediately find ways to attract more online readers and keep them on-site longer.
The position will also help with print production process including editing stories and some page production as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field, or equivalent experience.
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Proven ability to work quickly and accurately using a Web-based content management system. Three or more years of website production experience is preferred, but will train.
Assist with the programming of Carroll County Times's main social media accounts, with the shared responsibility to grow and leverage our presence on these platforms.
Ability in video production, both shooting and editing a plus.
Have the ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment, and adapt constructively to change.
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript is a plus. Newsroom experience is preferred. Applicants should be proficient with image-editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and have some experience with video-editing software.
Must be technically savvy and able to quickly master new processes and software tools used for content editing and production.
Strong news judgment and the ability to work well as part of a team are a must. This person should be comfortable communicating with staff in different locations to become familiar with the newsrooms' content and workflows.
This person will have knowledge of social media best practices and will be responsible for pushing content out and engaging new and loyal users through the Carroll County Times news group's branded social media accounts.
Some night/weekend hours will be expected.
