LED Lighting Product Manager

We are the Ascott Group a search firm specializing in the lighting industry. We have positions at all levels with Architectural, commercial, Industrial, Residential, and Solid State Lighting fixture, lamp, and ballast manufacturers.
Our client is a fast paced high growth, highly profitable commercial lighting systems manufacturer with history of year over year sales growth. Due to a new LED based lighting product launch client is looking to hire a product launch and marketing professional to assume the role of:
Product Manager - Must have minimum of three years of Lighting industry experience.
The Product Management team is responsible for the overall coordination of all aspects of product development, including analyzing business needs, prioritizing products and features, writing functional specs, managing project schedules and budgets and concluding with manual writing and communication of changes to the business and clients.
This position is in the heart of the product development cycle, supporting our entire business and all of our offerings. Therefore, the qualified candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
Responsibilities:
Coordinate with all departments relating to product (new and existing)
Develop, implement and manage product activities to provide optimum sales and profitability for assigned product lines.
Conduct market research to better understand company's position concerning strengths, weaknesses and opportunities by traveling and meeting customers and sales reps.
Analyze competitive lines
Determine short and long term strategies and tactics for product marketing.
Develop pricing strategies, cost targets so as to deliver agreed upon target margins
Manage life cycle of product lines from strategic planning to tactical activities
Evaluate product as to sales volume and GM%
Ability to lead cross functional teams within a matrix organization
Ability to work utilizing disciplined project management guidelines
Other Pertinent Information:
Under cabinet or displacy/accent lighting experience is a big plus
Four year degree along with 5 years of progressive experience in product marketing or project engineering in a manufacturing environment.
Effective communicator, comfortable making presentations to customers and internal partners in a professional manner.
Strong PC skills
Some travel required
Must have experience in commercial lighting or builder related industry
Exceptional project management understanding and skills.
Qualified candidates should possess desire for upward mobility within the organization.
