Our Half Moon Bay, California office offers a unique work environment. Your role will be to assist with data analysis and report preparation for a variety of clients. This is a regular, hourly position.
What you will accomplish:
Conduct natural resource field surveys collecting observational and spatial data concerning a variety of terrestrial and avian species
Organize equipment and logistical arrangements for field studies
Use contemporary tools to assess project areas, habitat types, and associated landforms
Assist with resource agency permit preparation
Conduct research as appropriate
Assist the project manager in data organization and interpretation and report preparation
Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved processes and procedures for natural resource projects
Work closely with SWCA project managers, program directors, and Office Director to promote SWCA s business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values
Flexibility and willingness to learn the companies science and safety procedures, willingness to try new and improved field techniques and procedures, the ability to make independent decisions when appropriate and make adjustments as a member of a team in order to complete tasks in the most efficient and accurate manner
Experience and qualifications for success:
A minimum of B.A. or B.S. in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field required and experience in the consulting field is preferred
A minimum of (3) years of professional consulting experience
Must have and a minimum of (3) seasons of fieldwork experience
Fieldwork can include conducting biological surveys, habitat assessments, wetland delineations, construction monitoring
Knowledge of California flora and fauna is required and experience working in the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Valley is a plus.
Ability to obtain agency approval to serve as a CDFW and/or USFWS-approved monitor for California red-legged frog and California tiger salamander is a plus.
Able to provide a list of projects in which you have been previously served as an agency-approved monitor during the application process.
Prior experience with GIS software (ArcPad) and Trimble GPS units and ability to use technology for data collection is required
Good writing skills to contribute to survey reports, biological assessments, wetland delineation reports, and permit applications required
