About the opportunity:
SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking to fill the position of Cultural Resources Lead/Project Manager for our Bridgeville, Pennsylvania office. This position is a regular, full-time, salaried position, reporting to the Pittsburgh Office Director. Salary will be based on individual qualifications and experience.
The selected candidate will serve as the Cultural Resource Department Lead, Principal Investigator and Registered Professional Archaeologist and will possess a skillset that combines high-level technical expertise with business development and leadership acumen. The selected individual will manage and support cultural resource projects in the Midwest, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions representing primarily natural gas and oil projects in the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays as well as projects associated with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission locally and corporate wide throughout SWCA.
What you will accomplish:
Directly provide and lead others in providing cultural resources services related to permitting, and broad-based cultural resources services primarily within oil and gas market sectors having relevance to Pittsburgh, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic Regions.
Work collaboratively with the Pittsburgh Office Director, the Midwest Region Principal, and other SWCA Office Directors/Program Directors and team leads to grow the operations throughout the Midwest Region and SWCA as a whole.
Work closely with other key individuals throughout SWCA to promote our business interests in adherence with the companys mission, vision, and values.
Supervise Cultural Resource staff, increase their skill sets through direct mentorship, goal setting, staffing decisions and conduct performance reviews. Promote a communicative culture of teamwork, engagement, transparency, quality service, and client satisfaction.
Enhance SWCAs professional reputation and demonstrate the ability to be creative and innovative with these tasks while representing SWCA in a professional manner.Be accountable for business development, the financial success of the Pittsburgh Cultural Resource program as a whole, and attainment of personal sales and productivity goals.
Correspond with and lead the Cultural Resource team to foster and develop relationships with regional, state, and federal agencies necessary for project completion, including but not limited to the USACE, PA SHPO, WV SHPO, the OHS, state DOTs and the FERC.
Attend local and regional conferences and meetings such as Marcellus Shale Coalition conferences, DUG East, SHPO, FERC, USACE, Section 106 trainings, etc.
Manage projects; coordinate with clients; supervise, direct, and instruct subcontractors. Manage the workload of supervisees to ensure that productivity goals and the staffing needs of projects are met.
Prepare proposals, reports, and other technical documents; monitor field procedures; write and review technical documents.
Develop practices and policies to ensure that data collected in the field meets project requirements and agency regulations and is quality controlled.
Supervise and/or conduct Phase I, II and III data recovery projects, visual assessments, historic and prehistoric artifact analysis, Right-Of-Way and construction cultural resources monitoring in accordance with industry standard methodology acceptable to client and regulatory agencies with limited supervision.
Assist with SWCAs Midwest Business Development goals and objectives.
Perform data QA/QC, organization, and tracking of field data, and collecting GPS data using Trimble units (knowledge of TerrSync operating systems is a plus).
Implement and maintain safety and communication protocols for all project tasks.
Experience and qualifications for success:
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in anthropology or a closely related field is required; Masters Degree or higher preferred.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in project management related to cultural resources consulting services
Extensive working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulatory agencies governing cultural resource management (e.g., Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, etc.)
Ability to be listed on archaeological permits issued through Midwest SHPO offices is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in increasing levels of responsibility, including supervising, providing positive leadership, and successfully mentoring other professionals
Proven consulting acumen, including established credibility with federal and state reviewing agencies and clients
Excellent writing and speaking skills in a group environment or on one-on-one settings
