Inspire Federal Credit Union in Bristol, PA is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant. The candidate will possess a working knowledge of financial accounting principles, balance sheets and income statements. Responsible for managing investments, fixed assets and supporting or leading various projects. Position will utilize spreadsheets and data to assist in making decisions for the Finance Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reconciles general and subsidiary credit union accounts by gathering and balancing information.
Provides financial status information by preparing special reports; completing special projects.
Corrects errors by posting adjusting journal entries.
Maintains general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and control accounts; adjusting entries for amortizations prepaids; analyzing and reconciling retainage and accounts payable ledgers; preparing fixed asset depreciation and accruals.
Secures financial information by completing database backups; keeping information confidential.
Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures; complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
Using General Accepted Accounting Principles will verify and post detailed business transactions to general ledger and other tracking systems in support of the day-to-day credit union operations. Will balance and audit general ledger accounts and prepares accounting entries as needed.
Responsible for maintaining investment program and subsidiary ledgers. Calculate and post interest accruals, payments and additions. Balance general ledger to investment subsidiary ledger. Maintain roll-forward analysis, safekeeping records and pledged securities processes.
Must be able to analyze large amounts of data from various sources and organize the data by creating and updating complex spreadsheets (Excel). Will utilize this data and analysis to recommend solutions, drive decisions, create reports and evaluate operational needs.
Assists in preparation of audit schedules, data collection and documents procedures. Provides support in preparing various reports which summarize and forecast the credit union's business activity and financial position in areas of assets, liabilities, income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
Will become familiar with various tasks and responsibilities of other accounting positions, i.e. account payable, wires, mortgage lending, call reports, tax reporting, payroll and/or other critical functions to help resolve more complex issues. May perform as back up to these duties as needed.
Education/Experience
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
0-3 years experience preferably in a Credit Union or Financial Industry
Must have experience with general ledger accounting, managing fixed assets and investments, strong analysis skills, intermediate to advanced Excel skills and cost accounting principles.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
