Inpatient Phlebotomist

Demonstrates the ability to follow policies and procedures regarding patient rights, confidentiality and privacy. Demonstrates the ability to respond to the people served based on developmental age. Demonstrates the ability to explain to the population served the service being provided. Performs venous and capillary collections as ordered on patients regardless of the patient age. Performs blood collections and transports specimen to the laboratory in an accurate and timely manner. Orders entry, specimen receipt verification and minimal specimen processing. Maintains paperwork such as: uncollected list, network error log, duplicates orders, documentation, and draw charges, accident/incident documentation. Performs culture, BAT and chain of custody drug collections. Assists with incoming phone calls and result inquiry. Trains students and new employees. Maintains positive interpersonal relations with lab, hospital and medical staff. Participates in health fair collections. Performs blood draws during code blue and trauma alerts.
Requirements
Previous experience in phlebotomy preferred. Successful completion of an approved phlebotomy program. Certified within 6 months of employment date. Annual CPR certification.
