AIX Systems Administrators (II):
KSN Technologies, Inc. in Chesterton, IN is seeking AIX Systems Administrators (II) to maintain and administer AIX systems (proprietary UNIX operating systems) on pSeries hardware servers. Individuals will use standard occupational tools, and apply advanced theoretical knowledge of Computer Science principles and concepts as well as AIX knowledge to perform the following duties:
- Install, configure, and support servers.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
- Load computer tapes and disks, and install software and printer paper or forms.
- Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
- Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
- Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
This position does not supervise other personnel. As assigned, perform other duties normal to the occupation.
Minimum requirements: Master's degree in Computer Science, or any related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) field that provided the required knowledge and abilities, and one (1) year of experience in the job offered, or any related experience that provided the required skills and abilities.
Position requires demonstrable experience and proficiency with the following:
- AIX
- Perl
- KornShell
- Shell script
- Secure shell SSH software
- SAN (Storage Area Network) software
- Password management software
- Backup and archival software.
Any suitable combination of education, training or experience is acceptable. The term suitable, in this context, means substantial compatibility with stated academic level and job experience requirements, and ability to perform job duties.

No travel or telecommuting. Job duties are project-based and performed on long-term assignments at various unanticipated sites within the U.S. which may require relocation at the end of the project.
