Note:
This position will be based in Allentown, and will require travel throughout the Lehigh Valley area.
The selected candidate will be required to use their own vehicle to travel from site to site (mileage will be reimbursed according to state guidelines), using their own vehicle to transport equipment to job sites.
Description:
Our client requires the services of a Workstation Specialist with advanced PC installation, support and troubleshooting experience to work with existing IT team members to provide support to various offices throughout the Commonwealth, which encompasses Lehigh, Northampton, Monroe Carbon, Schuylkill, and Berks Counties.
The Workstation Specialist will be responsible for assisting staff by supporting hardware and software installation and troubleshooting services. Candidate must possess the ability to install and configure VPN Routers, PC hardware, peripherals, and software in both a network and stand-alone environment is required. The ability to use diagnostic software to troubleshoot network issues is required. The ability to read and understand and technical manuals and schematics is required. The ability to assemble and support a microcomputer system and multifunction printers, as well as install Cat5e and/or Cat6 cable runs and perform cable terminations is required. Specific knowledge required in LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, Remedy, MS Windows., RDP, and SCCM. The resource may also be required to document technical processes. Strong team leadership skills are also required.
The Workstation Specialist must be capable of learning and supporting a variety of Fleet Diagnostic Software issues on laptops used in garages, keeping them functional for use by mechanics. Examples of the diagnostic software are International Mack Premium Tech Tool, ServiceMaxx, Cummings INSITE, AutoEnginuity, Bendix ACom Diagnostics, and Meritline WAPCO. The Workstation Specialist should also be capable of learning to configure and perform firmware updates to a DG Technologies Protocol DPA5 Dual-CAN Adapter.
The Workstation Specialist will required to support and configure mobile devices, including equipment containing the iOS and Android operating systems.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and must be comfortable traveling to various parts of the state and working around active construction sites. Occasional overnight travel for training may be required. Candidates will be required to utilize their personal vehicle and transport IT equipment to various facilities, including construction projects.
Specific duties for the position include:
1. Installs computer system and mobile device hardware, software, and related peripherals in accordance with departmental procedures and technical manuals.
A. Installs and configures PC hardware and peripherals (printers, modems, mice, tape drives, CD-ROMs, video cards, DPA5 protocol adapters) to meet user requirements.
B. Configures Mobile Devices (primarily iOS) to meet user requirements.
C. Installs Cisco VPN routers
D. Connects/disconnects PCs and printers to the network. Attaches network cables at switch and PC or printer.
E. Assigns workstation and LU names for PCs being added to the network.
F. Installs related software (Windows, applications, network drivers) needed for proper functioning of the complete system and all interconnected devices.
G. Configures CISCO AnyConnect VPN software on non-networked PCs.
H. Configures DPA 5 to interface between the Garage Diagnostic software on garage laptops and fleet vehicles.
I. Upgrades or repairs existing PC equipment by replacing or adding memory, floppy disk drives, hard drives, motherboards, and I/O cards as required.
J. Installs and tests images for department PCs.
K. Planning, schedule, and track hardware deployments.
L. Train end user on use of newly deployed equipment.
M. Identify and recommend changes for efficiency gains.
2. Provide all required information to assure a complete and accurate equipment inventory.
A. Unpack/pack computer and mobile equipment.
B. Receive, check-in, and inventory equipment. Report all inventory transfers.
C. Record inventory information and updates Remedy Asset Management System.
D. Runs reports from Remedy Asset Management System.
E. Coordinates equipment deliveries and pickups with staff.
3. Provides direct support for computer and mobile equipment requests and issues.
A. Responds to computer and mobile equipment related trouble calls both on-site and remotely.
B. Provide computer and mobile equipment related support to end users via telephone and e-mail.
C. Process requests for LAN user accounts.
D. Troubleshoots individual PC problems resulting from SCCM pushes.
E. Run SCCM reports and monitor workstations for compliance
F. Creates and updates Remedy tickets.
4. If needed, document technical processes and/or update existing documentation.
