Hosting a Student:
Our students come from 13 different countries, and are between the ages of 15-18 years old. All of our students are thoroughly screened in their home country, by our respective offices, and held to a standard of maturity and academic achievement.
Our three primary requirements for host families are to provide a bed that is not convertible in fashion, to provide three meals a day, and transportation to and from the high school. We also have local coordinators situated around the country that are there to provide support and help while the student is staying at your home.
Host families are volunteers, they are not paid.
According the U.S. Department of State, host families cannot receive financial gain from their participation in a student exchange program. This rule is designed to ensure that host families are participating in the program for the right reasons. However, in recognition of their role as citizen ambassadors, all host families are eligible to receive a charitable tax deduction on their tax return.
