The Payroll Manager supervises the payroll staff to ensure that salaried and hourly payroll processes are accomplished appropriately and in a timely and accurate manner. The position coordinates the payroll functions for multiple companies and in multiple states. The Payroll Manager serves as the subject matter expert on payroll and resolves issues while seeking improvements in operational processes.

Responsibilities:
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws with relation to payroll.
Reviews new hire packets and employee terms and conditions for changes; implements payroll-related provisions; coordinates changes with human resources.
Evaluates existing processes and designs and implements process improvements; collaborates with finance, information technology and human resources staff in the process improvement.
The Manager acts as lead on payroll system implementations and upgrades.
Manages and performs complex accounting processes involved in administration of payroll.
Maintains and supervises the maintenance of payroll records and databases; validates payroll records by performing audits to ensure accuracy; prepares reports and summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leaves, taxable and nontaxable wages; responds to requests for information as needed.
Ensures proper and timely payments 401(k) contributions and other recurring or unique payroll related processes; researches and resolves discrepancies.
Acts as lead on expense system implementations and upgrades. Ensures proper and timely processing and payment of employee expenses. Provides data for Travel and Expense trend analysis.
Reviews ADP prepared quarterly/annual federal and state payroll tax returns, coordination of year-end payroll processing including supplemental payrolls, W-2 and other tax forms.
Provides training in payroll processes and process changes; coaches and counsels subordinate staff to maximize performance and improve services.
Responds to questions from employees and resolves discrepancies.
Must be a strong decision maker with the ability to properly integrate the payroll functions throughout company operations.
Reconciles payroll benefits and deductions to ensure accuracy.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Comprehensive knowledge of ADP payroll software.
Comprehensive knowledge of Concur expense software.
Proficient at MS Office, especially Excel.
Demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
Experience in multi-state payroll processing including multi-state tax withholding laws.
Demonstrated payroll management experience.
Problem solving ability, analytical and numeracy skills.
Proven managerial skills and ability to lead staff to excellent performance.
Effective time management skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
Education Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have five years of payroll experience; including experience in a lead, supervisory, or management role.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
CPP preferred, but not required.
Travel Requirements:
No travel (0%) is expected in association with performing this position. Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
