Assistant Store Director


I. POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Store Director position must observe and enforce all store rules and company policies and actively support the Store Director. The Co-Director is to assist the Store Director in accomplishing the following:
o To effectively lead, manage and develop overall store operations and employees to execute best practices and maximize sales and profitability.
o To create a shopping and working environment that exemplifies the company's commitment to and vision of service, quality, and neighborhood partnerships.
o To create a strong company bench by identifying and developing individuals' skills and abilities.
He/she is responsible to perform all duties of the Store Director in his/her absence and contribute to profitable operation of the store.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Assists Store Director with preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
o Completes store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
o Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
o Ensures availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts; maintaining inventories.
o Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
o Assists Store Director with formulating pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; authorizing clearance sales; studying trends.
o Assists Store Director with by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.
o Assists Store Director with securing merchandise by implementing security systems and measures.
o Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
o Maintains the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.
o Assists Store Director with determining marketing strategy changes by reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records.
o Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
o Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
o Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
o Train and coach department managers on all Key Performance Indicator's, product processing, customer service, product knowledge, suggestive selling, safety and sanitation and ensure department managers effectively communicate and train their department associates.
o Train employees on the effects of market area conditions and seasonal variations on products and sales.
o Provide guidance in product and supply ordering, equipment setup, department organization and vendor assistance.
o Teach and advise department manager on sound decision-making principles and application in daily operations.
o Maximize sales and profits by department managers and associates in effective display and sales techniques, efficient ordering, scheduling and work planning.
III. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Act with integrity and honesty in all business and social contacts with suppliers and ensure that grocery associates deal fairly and honestly with customers, vendors and sales representatives.
o Ensure that employees understand company policies and procedure throughout the grocery departments and set an example that exhibits these policies.
o Elicit employee suggestions and be open to new ideas.
o Use initiative, ingenuity, creativity and good judgment to act on opportunities and issues as they occur within the store location.
o Perform other job-related duties as assigned by management.
IV. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
o Working knowledge of store operations and have previous success managing retail grocery operations or equivalent experience Ability to comply with management guidelines schedule.
o Ability to read, write, speak, understand and follow English instructions proficiently.
o General knowledge of customer service principles and processes
o Basic skill to operate computerized cash register and barcode reader.
o Basic arithmetic skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide.
o Ability to communicate orally to customers and co-workers
o Ability to deliver exceptional customer service to customers
o Ability to adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining a high energy level.
o Ability to stand for extended periods of time, with limited break opportunities.
o Ability to effectively manage time.
V. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Required
o High School diploma or GED equivalency required.
o Two years experience as a grocery store cashier may substitute for HS education.
o Successful experience as a Co-Director or other management position and completed department training in: grocery, customer service, and at least one perishable department (i.e. produce, meat, deli/ bakery or seafood) and a working knowledge of all store departments.
o Must be at least 21 years old.
Desired or Preferred
o Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
VI. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Incumbents in this position must:
o Constantly stand, bend, stoop, reach and pick-up, for extended periods of time, objects while scanning items at workstation.
o Constantly identify barcode on items by
o Frequently lift, carry, or otherwise move bagged grocery items weighing up to 20 lbs. from the workstation and place in grocery cart.
o Occasionally lift, carry or otherwise remove/replace items weighing up to 40 lbs. out of/into grocery carts.
VII. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Functions of this position are generally conducted indoors, in a heated or cooled area, typical of a large grocery store.
Occasionally, incumbents may have to operate outdoors for special events.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
