Summary:
The Patient Access Technician is responsible to collect personal, medical and financial data from the patient or family and starts the record that will accompany the patient through the medical system. Actively participates in exemplary customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Patient Access Technician provides the necessary level of service to improve revenue cycle where it starts in order to achieve increased revenue and enhance customer satisfaction. Collection of co-pays; data entry/computer entries; safety/environment of care (paging of codes and alarms); patient access quality improvement; service excellence; pre OP screening; compliance/regulatory. Cross training to all areas in registration and flexible in work scheduling. Every other weekend, every other holiday required.
Education /Licensure/Certification
Requirements: Required: High School graduate or GED. 1-2 years in a Medical office setting; Customer Service Skills; Typing and data entry.
Preferred: Associates Degree in a health care related field. 2-5 years experience in Patient Financial services; Bilingual experience; Experience in collections; Experience in Computer applications: Meditech, PICISEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
