PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
o Escort patient to exam room, obtain and document vital signs as appropriate, document visit's chief complaint, HPI and ROS, update patient history and medications, review chart for recommended health maintenance items needed and note for physician.
o Be in exam room with doctor during substantially all patient encounters, listening to entire encounter in order to write out instructions for patients, electronically transmit prescriptions or prepare written prescriptions to be signed by doctor, fill out order forms for tests (electronically or on paper), and mark charges and diagnoses on encounter form.
o Review same with patient after doctor leaves room to make sure patient understands instructions/recommendations given.
o Complete patient referral forms when needed; schedule patient referrals when necessary.
o Return patient phone calls to relay doctor's response.
o Clarify prescription questions from local pharmacies.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
These are shared with other nursing personnel and are to be divided by them in manner that seems most efficient on a given day.
o Do patient EKGs and PFTs.
o Give immunizations, allergy and B-12 shots, as needed / requested by patient, and document. Obtain ABN, if needed.
o Help front office staff complete FMLA forms, if asked
o Answer receptionist's questions about items marked on encounter forms.
o Enter health department/pharmacy immunization records into patient charts.
o Straighten up waiting room at end of day and lock front door.
o Notify office manager when supplies are running low.
o Clean expired medication samples out of cabinets.
CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Treat patients with the respect, patience and good humor that the doctor does - you are his representative as well as his assistant.
Pitch in where needed for smooth running of the office!

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Calm, reassuring disposition; very patient.
Quick-learner with good memory for detail.
Minimum 5 years experience in a medical office or hospital.
Ohio license to give immunizations, allergy shots, etc. helpful, but not essential.
Can pass background check and drug screen.
Familiarity with current medications used in primary care - able to pronounce and spell drug names and medical terms.
Able to reiterate instructions clearly and accurately.
Neat, very legible, handwriting.
Familiarity with computers (we use a combination of electronic medical record and paper chart).
Capable of functioning in high gear for extended periods of the day, but able to deal with numerous small interruptions all day.
Willing to act as part of a team and pitch in wherever necessary to keep the office running smoothly while providing quality patient care.
Being compulsive would be helpful!

WHEN NEEDED: Immediately
WORK HOURS:
Weekdays 8:00 - 6:00; Saturdays 8:15 - approx. 1 pm.
Two days per week, one being Friday; plus 2 Saturdays per month; plus coverage for other nurses's vacation and sick days.
COMPENSATION:
Hourly pay will depend on experience.
Paid vacation, holidays, sick days.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
