Under the supervision of the Cottage Supervisor, a Youth Specialist provides child care and assists in providing guidance to emotionally impaired children to promote proper physical and mental growth and a healthy atmosphere. This position may assist in providing direction to new employees.
The schedule for this position will generally consist of the following days and times:
Monday - Thursday 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.
This position is eligible for the agency's health insurance benefits.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Interacts with children to provide care, establish and maintain a therapeutic adult/child relationship, and to provide a structured environment.
Documents specific behaviors of individual children and groups daily.
Supervises the children during various activities.
Plans and participates in therapeutic activities that encourage the development of self-esteem and inter-personal relationships.
Intervenes during crisis/conflict situations to provide immediate remedy/solutions.
Performs housekeeping duties, including cooking, cleaning, laundry and washing dishes; submits maintenance requests as needed to supervisor.
Complies with agency policies and procedures, licensing regulations and contractual obligations.
Provides guidance, counseling, support and discipline to the children as appropriate.
Teaches age-appropriate behavior, including self-care and peer and adult interactions.
Transports children to and from their home visits, school, doctor's appointments and other activities.
Monitors and maintains the children's health, including administering medications and notifying the Nurse and appropriateEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
