Part-time Coordinator, WIA Youth Program (Davie County)
The Part-time Coordinator - WIA Youth Program (Davie County) position is a 12-month part-time, grant funded position available June 15, 2015. This person reports to the Dean, Davie Campus and focuses on helping Davie County youth ages 16-24 overcome barriers that limit their ability to become productive members of society.
Responsibilities:
Provides vision and focus for the program
Work with program staff to develop and coordinate youth educational and employment activities
Make business contacts to setup job opportunities
Arrange and facilitate paid work experiences
Develop and execute field trips and leadership opportunities.
Develop and submit Requests for Proposals (RFP's) as required to maintain the grant
Manage grant funds in a fiscally responsible manner
Manage participant files for state data validation/audits
Maintain Laser fiche and NC Works software programs
Determine eligibility of applying youth
Administer tests to determine Basic Skills Qualification
Perform marketing and recruitment activities
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college in Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Human Services and/or a related field
Experience working with youth
Computer skills (MS Office, PowerPoint, etc.) and capable of learning new systems as developed by State WIA Agencies
Strong oral and written skills
Ability to work effectively in a team setting without close supervision
Ability to manage details with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to provide vision and leadership
Effective problem solving skills
Effectively maintain confidential information
A compassionate, nurturing person that instills trust and confidence in program participants
Effectiveness in the following College organizational competencies:
- Translating college purpose, values, and vision into organizational action
- Collaborating and facilitating
- Creating and innovating
- Anticipating and responding to change
- Providing vision and leadership
- Assessment of student learning
Qualifications Preferred:
Experience working with at risk youth.
Work experience in a human services organization.

ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment; ease of mobility in supervising participants in work and classroom settings; travel between campus and various work and meeting sites will be required; and effective use of all forms of communication (oral, visual, auditory), including use of computers.
Salary Range:
$19.50 - $21.00 based on candidate's experience, education, and funding source availability (grant)Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
