Medical Assistant / Certified/Registered
Perform duties under the direction of a physician to assist in the examination and treatment of patients.
Responsibilities include:
o Interview patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height and records information on patient's charts.
o Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
o Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.
o Hand instruments and materials to doctor as directed.
o Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
o Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials.
o Operates x-ray, electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests.
o Gives injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests.
o Schedules appointments, receives money for bills, keeps x-ray and other medical records, performs secretarial tasks, and completes insurance forms.
May also include:
o May key data into computer to maintain office and patient records.
o May keep billing records, enter financial transactions into bookkeeping ledgers and computer, and mail monthly statements to patients.
o Other duties as assigned
Qualifications include:
o High School diploma or its equivalent.
o Full command, verbal and written, of the English language.
o Good telephone communication skills.
o Knowledge of medical terminology.
o Knowledge of medical procedures.
o Knowledge of clerical functions.
o Current CPR card.
o Current PPD or Chest X-Ray.
o Current Health Certificate (if applicable).
o Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification preferred.
o Minimum of one year relevant experience preferred.
o Relevant certification/ license if applicable.
o Successful completion of the Maxim screening exam with a score of 80% or greater.
o Must meet all of Maxim's pre-employment screening requirements
