Summary

Performs the in-process inspection of the car prior to release from one production work center to the next.
Provides Final Assurance that works performed at the applicable work center meets or exceed all regulatory, customer, and GBW specifications and requirements.
Assures the inspection function is executed accurately and completely
Assures that all rejects from upstream production and inspection operations and cycles have been cleared and that corrective action has been taken to the satisfaction of the customer and regulatory agencies.
Provides feedback to inbound, second shift in-process, and any other responsible inspection department Team Members of inaccurate or incomplete inspection and documentation.
Provides feedback to the Quality Assurance Manager of inaccurate or incomplete inspection and documentation.
Provides feedback to production supervision of incomplete work, poor quality work, or missing documentation.
Checks and assembles the documentation for the car at the point of inspection for retention in the onsite car file system, and submittal to the customer and when required, applicable regulatory agencies.
Assures that the quality standards of the company are adhered to by all Team Members.
Assures that all documentation required for final release of the car from the applicable work center is complete and is assembled for retention and submittal to the customer and regulatory agencies, as required.
A 100% commitment to comply with all the terms of company's safe work policies and quality functions is an absolute requirement.
Manages, mentors, coaches, and trains team members
Participates in root-cause investigations, and corrective and preventative actions to prevent recurrence.
Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements:

High School degree
A minimum of 5-years of rail car inspection, test, and repair experience
Ability to interpret drawings, procedure manuals, and have proven mechanical aptitude.
Certification in applicable inspection methodologies as determined by the QQ Manager and company policy.
Welding and NDT experience is recommended for effective inspection on quality of work performed.
Knowledgeable of the Federal Railroad Administration's regulations governing the inspection and test of rail cars, and the Association of American Railroads Interchange Rules.
Computer proficiency, strong attention to details, organizational, time management, verbal and written communication, and ability to multitask skills are essential.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
