Infection Preventionist

- Certification Required - Licensure Required - 3-5 years experience is required Reporting to the System Director of Infection Control, the Infection Preventionist is trained in hospital epidemiology principles and is responsible for collaborating with Departments in all infection prevention activities and assisting with the surveillance, analysis, interpretation and reporting of healthcare associated infections (HAI's) across the Rideout Health Group; actively participates in conjunction with the Director in the planning, developing, directing, implementing and evaluation of infection prevention and control activities within the system to ensure the organization's patients, personnel and visitors will be protected from transmission of disease and infection within the facility's environment as identified in the core competency model by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC); assists with the education of employees and Physicians about infection prevention; assists the department with the development of health system policies and procedures to ensure rigorous infection control standards that meet TJC, OSHA, Centers for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS), California Department of Public Health and California laws pertaining to Infection Prevention, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other nationally organized agencies recommendations and requirements and assists with the daily operations of the Infection Prevention department.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of state and federal regulations and regulatory requirements pertaining to Infection Prevention.
Knowledge of techniques for data collection; ability to analyze and collate statistical results
Experience:
Three years of healthcare experience in an acute care setting in a complex organization preferred.
Two year of experience in infection prevention and coursework (i.
e.
APIC ICE 101) in infection prevention preferred.
Must have a current RN license in the State of California or MT certification, certified in Infection Control (CIC) preferred.
If not Board Certified, required to attempt within 2 years of hire.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Microbiology or related science field required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
