Smartlink is looking to hire a Business Intelligence Analyst in Annapolis, MD.
Reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology, the Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst gathers and evaluates data from multiple sources to identify data patterns and trends in order to develop BI solutions for multidimensional databases. The BI Analyst ensures that the use of BI applications enhance business decision-making capabilities and increase business efficiency and effectiveness. This function is responsible for leading the strategic design and maintenance of BI applications in support of Smartlink's business systems.

Responsibilities:
Develop an in-depth knowledge of Smartlink's BI applications portfolio, development tools, and development procedures.
Use analysis tools to write relational and multidimensional database queries and generate blended BI reports to identify patterns and trends.
Provide end to end analysis, development, management, and delivery; challenge and brainstorm across departments to compile business and system requirements to understand business needs in order to design and deliver accurate BI solutions that fully meet business specifications.
Support, update, modify, and enhance existing BI applications; expeditiously troubleshoot issues, repair and resolve without causing additional problems, and communicate solutions to users.
Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
Contribute to the effective governance of Smartlink's business data including data quality, data management, and business process management.
Create BI applications development project schedule as well as task and project completion time estimates.
Effectively educate internal customers of business value and impact of available BI solutions with the goal of facilitating data-driven and informed business decisions.
Perform adequate unit testing of own and other developers' application development work to ensure all requirements have been addressed and all basic functionality works.
Identify common requests and initiate enhancements and solutions that will improve the overall accuracy and usability of reporting; adjust and modify reporting solutions to keep pace with changing requirements.
Provide updates to the Vice President of Information Technology on work in progress, work completed, and work planned, and issues potentially impacting the on time completion or quality level of work.
Capable of interacting and effectively communicating with all levels of management including the executive team to gain understanding of business needs and transform requests into technical requirements.
Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
Maintain professional, ethical, and company standards at all times.
Job Requirements:
Extensive experience working with the self-service BI tool, Qlikview.
Strong background in Microsoft SQL Server BI tools including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS.
Technology savvy with the ability to master new technologies as needed.
Knowledge, understanding, and ability to create and maintain thorough technical documentation for a diverse target audience.
Proficient at MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong customer service orientation.
Strong demonstrated ability to prioritize, a commitment to tight deadlines, and problem resolution skills.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and align business processes to organizational objectives.
Strong project management skills with effective results focus within an information systems environment.
Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to present ideas in both a business-friendly and user-friendly language.
Highly self-motivated and directed with a keen attention to detail.
Strong oral and written communication.
Ability to adapt to a changing environment.
Experience working effectively in a team environment, communicating effectively, resolving issues efficiently, and contributing to the improvement of the infrastructure.
Experience with SAP Business One is a plus.
Education and
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have six years of experience in the design and development of BI solutions.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Master's degree in a related field is an added advantage, but not required.
