Store Director


The Store Director with T. Cain Grocery, Inc. is accountable for protecting the assets of the company and directing all operations of their assigned store, including profitability, service, selling, staffing, merchandising, safety, sanitation, loss prevention, community relations and regulatory compliance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Understand and promote the best in Customer Service by meeting the needs of customers, vendors and other employees through effective interaction.
o Ensure that sanitation, food handling and storage standards are met or exceeded throughout the store.
o Provide a safe and healthful workplace that is free from recognized hazards.
o Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
o Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
o Ensure availability of merchandise and services by maintaining inventories.
o Market merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans.
o Maintain the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.
o Maintain operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
o Exchange ideas, messages and information in a clear, concise manner using appropriate format, spelling and grammar.
o Embrace technological changes that improve communications between stores, the public and those needing information quickly.
o Formulate pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotion; authorizing clearance sales; studying trends.
o Adapt to changing needs and circumstances and trends in consumer buying habits.
o Determine marketing strategy changes by reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records.
o Maintain a consistent schedule that allows for changes in expected work load.
o Delegate responsibilities to utilize and develop assistant managers' abilities and potential.
o Determine the tasks and organizes the work flow of assistant store managers.
o Monitor progress and follow-up to make sure assignments are accomplished as intended and scheduled.
o Complete store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
o Make efficient use of available resources.
o Identify problems and analyze causes.
o Evaluate appropriate and/or alternative solutions using available or necessary resources.
o Determine and implement or recommend actions to correct or prevent problem from reoccurring.
o Secure inventory by implementing loss control steps, techniques and security systems.
o Organize and conduct interactive staff meetings to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, techniques and knowledge.
o Promote the team concept by sharing goals, results and information with staff
o Keep work area or office neat or in an efficient and productive manner.
o Complete paperwork in a timely manner, keep staff and management informed of status of assignments in case of emergency.
o Dress appropriately and consistent with company standards.
o Recognize the merits of new or different approaches, particularly those ideas of subordinate staff.
o Promote a productive, creative and exciting environment where people strive for quality of service.
o Foster a commitment in subordinates for achieving the store's goals.
o Set an example for others to follow.
o Provide staff with frequent performance feedback and coaching; Provide recognition for areas of high or improved performance and work with employees to correct performance problems.
o Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Attend community meetings, business luncheons and after-hours gatherings to promote and develop community awareness of store brand.
o Other duties as assigned and required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Required
o High School diploma or GED equivalency.
o Five years experience as a store director or manager.
o Ten years total experience in grocery store operations.
Desired or Preferred
o Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Incumbents in this position must:
o Frequently stand, walk, stoop, reach and pick-up items while reviewing and evaluating store operations.
o Frequently lift, carry, or otherwise move grocery items weighing up to 20 lbs.
o Occasionally lift, carry or otherwise remove/replace items weighing up to 40 lbs.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
