Title: Medical Coder/Auditor

Pay Rate Range: Depends on Experience (W-2 all inclusive rate)
Purpose and Description:
The Medical Coder/Auditor reviews physician documentation to determine if it meets the coding requirements for the EM, ICD-10 and CPT codes selected by the physician/provider.
The goal is to educate the physicians in the coding of their services. The results drive education efforts to support future physician coding
Requirements:
Experienced at coding services in a multispecialty physician environment
Able to do daily concurrent HCC audit (most specialty departments)
Able to review 60 charts per day ( this includes comprehensive review of the encounter for HCC code capture, send e-mail queries to providers, and follow up e-mail queries of previously sent )
Able to audit E/M and CPT coding when HCC work is low Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Able to communicate to physicians about the principles of coding and the qualities of coding documentation
Produce consistently accurate work, with professionalism
Ability to work under pressure, with accuracy and consistency
3 or more years of coding experience
Previous audit experience is preferred
Strong knowledge of HCC (majority of work assignment), E/M and CPT -coding
Attention to detail
Basic skills in MS Excel and Word
Education:
Certification in one of the following: i.e. Registered Health Information Administrator
(RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
