Safety Manager / Operations Support
We are seeking an entry-level safety professional to fulfill the safety & operational responsibilities at one of our locations in the Washington DC Metro / Baltimore areas. This position will report directly to the Safety Director of the Company, and will be assisted by the Company safety team.
Summary of Position:
The Site Safety Manager will be responsible for the successful day-to-day management, administration, and reporting of all safety tasks and activities at one of our distribution centers. This position will also include the reasonability of providing operation support to the operations team.
Duties &
Responsibilities:
Monitors Department of Transportation hours-of-service logs, mileage sheets, boom inspections sheets, and forklift inspection sheets.
Reviews and maintains Department of Transportation commercial motor vehicle files.
Reviews and maintains fleet, crane, and forklift maintenance files.
Reviews and maintains crane operator files.
Reviews and maintains forklift operator files.
Prepares warehouse safety meetings.
Prepares delivery safety meetings using a provided safety curriculum.
Updates employee certification and compliance spreadsheet.
Manages the certifications of forklift and crane operators and schedules safety training with the safety trainers.
Keeps inventory on all delivery equipment including safety equipment and tools.
Performs safety inspections on all delivery equipment on a monthly basis (fall protection, material handling carts, pallet jacks, etc.).
Orders and reviews all driving motor vehicle reports.
Monitors the Driver's Alert Program (orders replacement stickers for the trucks as needed).
Schedules all truck, crane, and forklift maintenance.
Performs all forklift operator safety evaluations.
Manages all claims, auto claims, GL, and workman's comp with the assistance of the Company safety team.
Conducts accident investigations with assistance of the Company safety team.
Answers operational and safety related phone calls.
Assists in operational inventory and purchasing management.
Assists the operations team in dispatching of delivery trucks.
