Overview The SQL Server Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining, administering and ensuring the security and stability of the company's SQL implementations.
Duties include analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving complex problems involving databases, operating systems and applications.
This position requires participation in the development, deployment and support of infrastructure and technology solutions, both from an architectural and operational perspective.
Responsibilities Database installation, configuration, patching, monitoring, maintenance and version upgrades Work incident tickets including problem isolation, analysis, root cause, and solution Provide technical support, on call and excellent customer serviceWork closely with management, developers, project managers, technical staff and end-users to ensure successful project implementation and deliverablesDatabase solution design, performance monitoring, analysis and tuningCapacity planning, disk space checks and resource utilization analysis Backup, recovery and DR testing and planningDevelop, implement and enforce procedures, security policies, standards and best practices to support the operation of database systemsEnsure high availability and optimum performance of database systemsStandard database operations, daily checks Clustering, SSIS, data transfers, replication, TSQLResearch and test new database technologies, share knowledgeWork towards automation and gaining efficienciesImplementation and release of database changes Perform database security audits and health checks Qualifications 3
years of SQL DBA experience using SQL Server 2005 and up, supporting large-scale production systems and providing technical expertiseBachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experienceExperience with SQL database management, administration, and maintenanceExperience with TSQL programming, Backup/Recovery Performance tuning experience, including enabling and interpreting SQL profiler trace Competencies Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skillsAbility to work independently and as a team memberAbility to manage and prioritize multiple assignments, projects and requestsAbility to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environmentExcellent organizational and time-management skillsSelf-motivated, process/quality oriented with attention to detailResults-oriented nature and a desire to provide excellent customer serviceStrong research, analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting skillsSQL certifications will be a plusProgramming experience in addition to the other experience is a plus To learn more about this position or any other jobs we have available in the St.
