The Employee Health & Workers Compensation Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day services and activities provided by the Employee Health Department and coordinates the hospitals Workers' Compensation and Light Duty Work programs. This position manages, plans, implements, and evaluates comprehensive health and environmental safety for employees and volunteers. The role involves extensive record keeping, organization, problem solving skill, and time management. In addition, the interpretation and communication of complex regulations relating to Employee Health and Workers Compensation is a large part of the job function. Extensive interaction with the Infection Control, Facilities (Environment of Care Team), and Human Resources is also required.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB
Responsibilities:
o Oversee the daily operation of the Employee Health Department and the Workers' Compensation program for Florida Hospital Deland. a) Establish and implement hours of operation to best suit the needs of the department and the customers served. b) Identify priorities to enable the Employee Health Department to function in a safe, effective and efficient manner. c) Establish and implement the most effective staffing mix.
o Oversee the development, revision and implementation of policies and procedures specific to the Employee Health Department and Workers' Compensation program for Florida Hospital Deland. a) Review and update policies as scheduled. b) Implement new policies relevant to the Employee Health Department and Workers' Compensation in accordance with State and Federal regulations and recommendations.
o Maintains the standards of nursing care, the delivery of safe and effective care as defined by Florida Hospital Deland's standards of care, and are consistent with the therapies of other disciplines within the Employee Health Department. a) Comply with accepted professional and hospital standards in treating employees and other customers. b) Ability to administer medications in a safe and effective manner.
o Interact with contacts both within and outside the organization to serve as a resource person as well as to exchange pertinent information while maintaining strict confidentiality. a) Actively serve on various committees as deemed necessary. b) Attend depositions, mediations, and other legal proceedings in regards to Workers' Compensation claims for Florida Hospital Deland.
o Oversee and assist in the retrieval of data necessary for the completion of records and reports that are necessary for governmental regulations, insurance purposes, and various committees. a) Create and provide reports required by internal reporting committees and external reporting agencies.
o Work effectively with Administration, directors, managers, physicians, employees and any other individuals associated with Florida Hospital Deland. Consult with appropriate resources including but not limited to physicians, servicing agents and legal services regarding Employee Health issues and Workers' Compensation cases as required.
o Oversee the maintenance of the Employee Health Department and Workers' Compensation records and files in accordance with State and Federal regulations. a) Oversee the development and implementation of the Employee Health Department portion of the new employee experience. b) Consistently and accurately explain reasons behind Employee Health policies and procedures.
o Oversee the counseling to those employees who have sustained work-related blood-borne pathogen exposures. a) Provide counseling for blood-borne pathogen exposures. b) Maintains, monitors and tracks blood-borne pathogen exposures as it pertains to Employee Health. c) Maintain accurate and legible blood-borne pathogen files with strict confidentiality.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Strong knowledge of Federal and State employment regulations as well as AHS and FHF Policies and Procedures. Prefer knowledge of Joint Commission standards and AHCA/OSHA regulations. Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills are required. The ability to prioritize work and multi-task is essential. Must have strong problem-solving skills and customer service orientation is critical, with demonstrated flexibility in work responsibilities and style to meet key customer/client needs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and advanced computer skills are required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing and/or Health Care Administration or related field preferred. Five years experience in Employee Health and/or Workers' Compensation preferred. Critical care nursing experience is preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:
Active RN license required. Occupational Health Certification strongly preferred. Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
