Due to promotional opportunities within the company, a Network Operations Center Engineer is needed immediately to join the NOC team in La Mirada, California. Availability is open for day, nights, and evening shifts for an skilled Network Engineer ready to learn and grow in diverse technologies.
Job Description:
The company is hiring Network Engineers to provide operational support on advanced networks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following functions:
Problem troubleshooting and resolution, including interaction with site contacts, carriers, vendors, and internal senior level engineering group
Proactively monitoring the networks to detect and resolve problems and ensure uninterrupted operations of the networks
Planning, evaluating and executing network maintenance activities
Participation in updating and revising policies, procedures, technical reports, documentation, and internal training material
Minimum
Experience:
2 years in a network operations environment in support of customer networks
OR-
2 years in a technical support role interacting with contacts via phone and ticketing system with hands-on experience with Cisco router
configuration, management, and operations
CCNA or more than 2 years of experience supporting 500
users to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN.
Target Skills:
Administering and configuring Cisco routers/switches, which includes implementing firmware changes, OS releases and other software upgrades
Troubleshooting router/network performance problems
Troubleshooting circuit problems T1 to OC192
Preparing announcements for maintenance activities or network outages
Communicating effectively via phone and e-mail with network contacts and vendors
Prioritizing of multiple demanding events along with daily tasks
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
Willingness to work any shift (including weekends), as assigned, and to rotate shifts and schedules as assigned
Experience with optical transmission systems such as WDM
Experience supporting H.323 video over IP networks
Experience in a university/research environment
Cisco CCNP certificationEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
