Position
Summary:
In collaboration with the Executive Director, the Director of Behavioral Health Services provides oversight and leadership to Aldea behavioral health programs which provide individual, family and group therapy services. Therapy services include a wide array of services to children, families and adults in a variety of community settings. Services range from prevention to intervention in cases of childhood abuse and neglect, mental illness, and adjustment to family stress. The program's priority is to assist, support, and strengthen our community's families in ways that are respectful of the diversity of clients and clients' needs. We provide services in Aldea clinics in Napa and Solano, at primary care clinics, at school sites, client homes and at partner community sites.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
Oversee the delivery of Aldea's behavioral health services. This includes, in partnership with Program Directors:
1. Delivery of individual, family and group therapeutic services clients according to quality and ethical standards and in accordance with the contracts agreed with counties' or any other contracting entities.)
2. Ensuring clinical soundness of services offered through ongoing monitoring and evaluation of all program staff, including those offering clinical supervision.
3. Working with senior clinical staff to plan and implement clinical and therapeutic case reviews and supervision in accordance with BBS requirements.
4. Maintaining an appropriate client and family intake and assessment system for individuals and families and appropriate assignment of cases to therapists.
5. Ensuring programs meet agreed budgets.
6. Maintaining relationships with senior county representatives to monitor existing contracts, changing needs and expectations and directing proactive efforts to respond to emerging needs or issues in communities Aldea serves. Representing Aldea by proactively participating in appropriate settings and meetings.
7. Participation and actively seeking additional program development opportunities in conjunction with the Executive Director and Development staff.
8. Writing grants and responding to Requests for Proposals in conjunction with the Executive Director and Development staff in order to expand and develop additional mechanisms for Aldea programs to meet community needs.
9. Ensuring the structure of services and reimbursements for all contracts are sound and the delivery of the services meet the contractual performance and fiscal commitments.
10. Improving Aldea's ability to identify and monitor outcomes of client services and using the information to continually improve our services.
11. Participating in ongoing opportunities for improving and growing client services according to community needs, emerging trends and patterns of best practice clinical treatment and available funding sources.
12. Ensure that programs maintain COA standards and inculcate a continuous quality improvement approach across programs.
13. Ensuring that all programs meet compliance standards and are maintained securely, including client files and general client statistics for planning and billing purposes and input to the agency database.
14. Participating in the hiring, development and performance management of program staff.
15. Provide oversight, agency leadership and coordination of services with the Program Directors.
16. Maintain a schedule of individual meetings and regular staff meetings to ensure that all agency and program news is appropriately cascaded and that provide opportunities for you to interact with all levels of staff.
17. Develop and foster in staff an awareness of the community, county agencies and relationships with other non-profit service providers and importance of working collaboratively while highlighting the distinctive differences in Aldea services.
18. Participate as an executive leader and resource in agency-wide activities such as agency leadership meetings, the agency clinical supervision team; represent to Board of Directors meetings, external audiences and development activities both to report on and represent your programs and on behalf of the agency as a whole. Coordinate operational activities with Aldea administrative staff.
19. Represent the organization in the community amongst stakeholder groups.
20. Occasionally participate in fundraising events and activities as an executive leader for the organization.
Qualifications:
1. Master's from an accredited or state approved graduate school in social work (MSW) or relevant Master's level program preferred. Also, it is advantageous if holding a current LCSW or MFT license in the State of California.
2. Licensed (LCSW, MFT, Ph.D) for at least 2 years.
3. Ten years experience in people and program management in the mental health field.
4. A current and forward-looking understanding of mental health services. Knowledge of healthcare policy and services a plus.
5. Excellent leadership and communication skills and demonstrated ability to motivate a team as well as the desire and ability to participate at the executive team level for the agency as a whole.
6. A strong working knowledge of the public and private child welfare systems is desirable.
7. Understanding of strategic planning.
