Hardlines Buyer
Due to rapid growth, Northern Nurseries is seeking an Assistant Hardlines Buyer to quickly learn our buying process and eventually take the position of Hardlines buyer due to a planned retirement. This position is at our Corporate office in Enfield Connecticut.
Northern Nurseries is one of the largest networks of horticultural distribution companies in the Northeast serving Landscape Contractors, Landscape Architects, General Contractors, Garden Centers, Colleges, and Municipalities. In this fast paced environment, you will learn negotiations, product knowledge, logistics and more.
Qualifications:
3 years purchasing experience of landscape supplies including pavers, outdoor lighting, fertilizer and grass seed. Shipping and logistics, freight calculations and experience using excel spreadsheets is a must. Ability to confidently negotiate pricing, resolving credits, billing errors, shipping disputes, product defects and other issues as they arise. Candidate must be able to multi-task and hit deadlines.
Working with the Northern Team, this position will also have input into pricing, marketing and advertising as well as promotions and educational programs. Attending trade shows and seeking new product opportunities for the company is expected.
