SUMMARY
As a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter of the functional area of the assignments, plans and conduct work require judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Responsible for overall supervision of project assigned. Resolves complex day-to-day problems of a mostly technical nature
This position will often serve as the contact person with the client, other design professionals, and contractors.
When in the role of project leader, the incumbent will coordinate and schedule the work of the project team members.
Gives direction to less experienced Designers and Engineers. Assists in the development of staff.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Performs work, which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge of related specialties.
Assigned to project team and makes major design recommendations
Participates in making proposals and presentations
Provides scope, schedule and cost information.
Produce sketches and system schematics for complicated design tasks
Assign duties and schedules to team members
Recognize problems quickly and provides solutions
Edit master specification sections to be project specific
Attend construction meetings and produce site observation reports and final punch lists
Assist in development of staff
Prepare addendums, proposal requests and change orders
Initiate additional service requests and turn over to Project Manager for submittal to client
Prepare engineering opinion of probable cost for mechanical or electrical systems and review construction manager/contractor cost estimates
Provide value engineering
Review drawings for compliance with company standards
Develop and maintain company design and production standards
In role of project leader, coordinate staff activities and maintain responsibility for project budget, staffing, schedule and quality
Proficient use of computer spreadsheets and design programs for engineering analysis and equipment selections
May be working on several concurrent projects
Attend in-house seminars and educational opportunities outside of the office
Participate in technical and professional societies

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Several years of professional experience
Project management experience desirable
Bachelor Degree from accredited institution
Professional Registration
Ability to travel to work-sites as needed or required
Must be able to communicate verbal and written instructions/directions to the project team
Campus master planning, district energy systems design and utility commissioning experience highly desirable


Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
