Metallurgist

Position
Heat Treating is a critical part of our manufacturing process - strengthening products to meet key performance criteria. The Heat Treat Metallurgist will play a strategic role in monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of our heat treat process, ensuring quality standards are met, documenting best practices and sustaining success achieved. Reporting to the Heat Treat Manager, this key position will help create repeatable processes, troubleshoot and oversee preventive maintenance. A solid understanding of lean manufacturing processes is required to increase production capacity and improve quality.

Responsibilities
Promote safety as the Number One priority of all OMG employees.
Analyze and resolve metallurgical quality issues using statistical methods such as SPC and DOE.
Troubleshoot issues, focusing on process improvement, cost reduction, and increased production capacity.
Reduce product defects by improving process procedures, evaluating new process technologies, and justifying capital purchases
Establish standards for specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes.
Develop and implement effective heat treat training programs.
Direct inspection activities and process acceptance of heat treated materials.
Analyze product to specifications and performance requirements to determine designs, which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science.
Experience working in a manufacturing or hands-on metallurgical lab environment.
Experience with Heat Treat process development, monitoring and management.
Knowledge and experience performing metallographic examinations, performing hardness testing, and non-destructive evaluations.
Experience analyzing ferrous and non-ferrous materials with emphasis on heat treat.
Ability to train in a classroom as well as hands on in a manufacturing area.
Demonstrated project management skills including budget and timeline preparation, and resource management.
Strong Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience and management skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead project implementation from design to implementation.
Proven success driving change and ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.
Documented results implementing cost savings, safety, and quality programs.
Demonstrated employee development and retention experience.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Team-oriented approach with a desire to work in a hands-on capacity.
Excellent PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite.
Ability to interpret safety instructions, job orders, blueprints, quality specifications, and other related documents.
Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Positive attitude, good judgment and strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and loyalty.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
