Maintenance Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY
Inspect, test, adjust, maintain, and repair all mechanical and electrical machinery and equipment. Maintain plant-wide preventive maintenance program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as applicable.

Receive wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be done.

Assist in the repair and maintenance of all electronic and hydraulic equipment.

Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, fit assemblies, and maintain all mechanical equipment and tools. Assemble and align gears, bearings, shafts, clutches, transmissions, tracing units, motors, etc. Make either temporary or permanent repairs dependent on production scheduling and orders from supervision.

Perform tasks requiring the ability to work from high places such as scaffolds, slings, ladders, etc. Exercise all safety precautions by isolating areas in which dangerous lifts are being performed.

Load and unload heavy or bulky machinery, equipment, spare parts, etc. and direct handling of same by cranes and forklifts.

Perform work requiring knowledge of welding properties of various types of metals, welding rods, welding heat, stress relief, and allowances for proper fit and machining.

Fabricate parts as required using machine and hand tools.

Test, inspect, dismantle, repair, replace, and install any type of high or low pressure piping, tubing, fittings, fixtures, and parts for the installation, maintenance, and repair of pipelines for air, water, steam, oil, and gases.
Inspect, repair, and install total electrical system from high voltage switch gear through lighting and motor control circuits.

Troubleshoot machinery and equipment breakdowns to determine the source of any problems in the electrical system by tracing and testing circuits. Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace or adjust faulty parts and wiring. Rewire, reassemble, test, and adjust equipment to obtain proper operating capabilities.

Follow all departmental procedures and work instructions while adhering to the AJAX Quality System. Advise supervisor of any quality problems or concerns.

Assist in other departments and areas of the plant as needed and directed.

Follow all plant rules and procedures within the department to ensure safe operating practices in order to prevent employee injury and/or equipment failure. Reports safety problems or concerns to the Manager.

Adhere to company-wide housekeeping standards in personal area and within department.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not possess any supervisory responsibility.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 1 year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
Basic competency in Windows operating environment using MS Office applications, e-mail, internet programs, and the AJAX ERP/reporting systems.

The noise level in the work environment is very high. The dust/dirt, fumes/airborne particle, smoke, and water levels in the work environment is very high. The environment is such that extreme heat and humidity and/or extreme cold is present most of the time depending on the outdoor season. There is a high exposure to vibration.

The work environment has a moderate risk of electrical shock.

The work environment has a low exposure to chemicals.

Department operates on a 20 to 24-hour basis and employees are required to change number of hours during shift to accommodate current production schedules.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
