The Charlotte County Fire and EMS is building an ongoing eligibility list for Firemedic. The department currently has 8 open positions. Candidates will need both FireTEAM and CPAT testing for this position. All testing through National Testing Network (NTN) and the department applications must be completed by May 1, 2015 to be considered for this round of hiring.
Salary Information: $47,960.64 - $71,955.52

Department Information: Charlotte County Fire and EMS covers just less than 700 square miles from 16 stations. We are a combined Fire and Emergency Medical Service deploying 12 ALS Rescues and 13 Engines, 8 of these ALS. We are adding 2 Rescues to the fleet in October 2013.
Opportunities include Marine Operations, Special Operations (hazmat, confined space, high angle rescue, trench rescue and structural collapse), and ARFF (Airport Rescue Firefighting).
This is skilled firefighting work involving the protection of life and property through firefighting and rescue operations and trained emergency medical work utilizing advanced medical techniques under the policies, procedures and treatment protocols by the Medical Director.

High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid FLORIDA State Driver's License: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
College: No but 2 year degree preferred
Academy Certification:
DOT approved certification as a Paramedic, State of Florida; certification as a Firefighter, State of Florida; valid certification and maintenance as an A.C.L.S. provider; valid certification and maintenance of an approved 16 hour E.V.O.C.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
o Thorough knowledge of advanced emergency medical practices, procedures, techniques and protocols.
o Knowledge of all standards as set forth by the State of Florida in Florida Statutes, Chapter 401 and Florida Administrative Code 64J-1, relative to function.
o Knowledge of all detailed Firefighter duty standards as set forth by N.F.P.A. 1001.
o Ability to work for sustained periods under pressure and constantly changing situations.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
