Description:
The Qualified Navy Validator is responsible for conducting validation procedures to confirm or establish by testing, evaluating, examining, investigating, or competent evidence that Information System (IS) assigned IA Controls (IACs) are implemented correctly and are effective in their application. The Validator is responsible for providing the Certification Authority (CA) with an accurate technical evaluation of the application, system, or network, documenting the security posture, capabilities and vulnerabilities against relevant IACs and drafting a certification determination (CD). The Navy Validator provides an independent, third party validation of the correct implementation of applicable IACs, analyzes the test results and provides the risk assessment to the Navy CA for review and approval.
Common Validator Tasks:
-- Gather C&A and other Information about the IT being certified obtains system or site information;
-- Document site or system information in DON DIACAP format;
-- Documents C&A validation information in a comprehensive DIACAP package;
-- Develop the DIACAP implementation plan and validation procedures;
-- Develops test plans and procedures appropriate to the IT system or site being certified and accredited;
-- Execute C&A test plans and validation procedures;
-- Documents C&A test and validation procedure results in the appropriate format;
-- Analyzes C&A test and validation procedure results findings/weaknesses for risk with respect to IA requirements
-- Develops the Certification Determination for the IT system or site seeking certification

Minimum experience required:
-- Must have a minimum of a DoD 8570.01M IAM Level 1 certification, i.e. CAP, GISF, GSLC, or Security+;
-- High School diploma or G.E.D;
-- 2-5 years practical experience in an Information Assurance
Cybersecurity, or a Certification and Accreditation related field;
--Average to above-average familiarity and understanding of Navy IT sites, systems and infrastructure;
-- Applies Navy C&A guidance to Navy C&A efforts;
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
