Ward Secretary / Monitor Technician
DEFINITION:
The Ward Secretary is an individual who transcribes physician orders and performs unit secretarial duties under the direct supervision of the charge nurse.
The Monitor Technician is an individual who is responsible for the monitoring and interpretation of cardiac rhythms for patients on continuous bedside or telemetry monitoring This individual may perform 12 lead EKG's on patients from adult to geriatric.
This individual also performs Ward Secretary duties and works under the direct supervision of the charge nurse.
KNOWLEDGE:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Successful completion of a course in basic cardiac monitoring or equivalent experience.
SKILLS:
Basic dysrhythmia interpretation(M.
T.
only) - 85% on screening competency test
Experience:
Previous acute care experience preferred LICENSE:
None.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
