Position(s) will be filled under the Department of the Army Pathways Intern Program.
The Department of the Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers through a job with the Department of Army.
The Department of the Army Pathways Interns may be converted to a permanent position within 120 days of successful completion of the program.
To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Interns must:
Be a U.S. Citizen
Complete at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program
Complete their degree or certificate requirements
Meet the Office of Personnel Management's qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the Participant's Agreement, and;
Perform their job successfully as documented through performance evaluations and/or completion of an Individual Development Plan (IDP)

Who May Apply:
Department of the Army Internship Program Eligibles
Positions are open to current students in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
oU.S Citizens who are currently enrolled, or have been accepted for enrollment, in a qualifying educational program on a full or half-time basis. The local commuting area is the geographic area in which people live and can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily to their usual employment. oStudents must reside and/or attend school within the local commuting area of Walla Walla, Washington.
oStudents should be pursuing a degree directly-related to the duties of the position. Degrees directly-related to this internship may include Business or Administration.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:To be eligible for this Pathways program position, ALL of the following requirements must be met:
o Student Status: The applicant must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, graduate or professional school (go to http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/Search.aspxto verify accreditation status). Individuals who are enrolled must be taking at least a half-time academic, vocational, or technical course load leading to a degree, and the applicant must provide evidence of enrollment/acceptance. If enrolled part-time, the applicant must also provide the school's policy on what is defined as half-time enrollment.
o Pathways Participant Agreement: All interns are required to sign the Participant Agreement.
o Qualification requirements as outlined below. The selected candidate must sign a written participant agreement which outlines the following information:
o A general description of the duties to be performed;
o Work schedules;
o Length of appointment and termination date;
o Mentorship opportunities;
o Training requirements;
o Evaluation procedures that will be used for the participant;
o Requirements for continuation and successful completion of the Program;
o Minimum eligibility requirements for noncompetitive conversion to term or permanent appointment in the competitive service under the specific Pathways Program in which employed; and
o Any other requirements or expectations established by the agency.
Intern's
Responsibilities:
o Provide proof of enrollment as necessary
o Notify the agency of any change in your enrollment status and/or work schedule
o Maintain at least a half-time course load as defined by the educational institution
o Remain in good academic standing
o Adhere to an established work schedule
o Adhere to the Intern Program requirements
o Participate in agency training classes or programs
o Perform, successfully, the assigned duties listed in your position description
o Observe all workplace rules

Education Requirement:
GS-02: To meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-02 level, applicants must have successfully COMPLETED high school or GED diploma.
GS-03: To meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-03 level, applicants must have successfully COMPLETED 1 academic year (30 semester hours/45 quarter hours) of post high school education in a field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite AND be enrolled/or accepted for enrollment for at least a half- time course load at an accredited institution of higher education. (Transcripts must be attached.)
GS-04: To meet the minimum qualifications for the GS-04 level, applicants must have successfully COMPLETED 2 academic years (60 semester hours/90 quarter hours) of post high school education in a field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite AND I am enrolled for at least a half-time course load at an accredited institution of higher education. (Transcripts must be attached.)
NOTE: One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university.

Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
