Counselor - Christian Program
This is a professionally responsible position, under general supervision, evaluates and counsels patients with substance abuse histories within a Christian Counseling Program. Maintains communication with clients, clients' families, facility and staff, specifically the treatment team, including physicians and nursing staff. Will work closely with the CA's on the unit and recreational staff. Will be a liaison with the community and other agencies to promote the new program, bringing in new modalities and theories for the betterment of our client/consumer. Provides patient care activities as directed by the Clinical Director. Provides group therapy when directed by scheduling and at the request of the Clinical Director. Trouble shoot crisis-intervention. The Christian Counselor must be capable of administering bio-psychosocial assessments, develop a master treatment plan for the client, and assist in the coordination of the clients discharge planning. He/she shall provide basic guidance through the 12-steps (AA and CR step studies); provide individual counseling therapeutically and theologically; provide direction and educate clients on the benefits of IOP/sober living; and at a minimum, provide weekly communication with the referents and families; and provide psycho-educational groups and utilize biblical metaphors in such groups.
Responsibilities:
Facilitates team interaction for discharge planning.
Shares pertinent information with treatment team as obtained from client and/or family, or others as indicated throughout program.
Attends weekly and monthly staffing meetings per schedule.
Evaluates the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.
Performs an initial paperwork for all clients, as necessary, including an initial treatment plan, initial discharge plan, client contact list, MSSI, admission ASAM, MSE, and comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment.
Actively participates in Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings.
Devises, completes, and documents on a regular basis on the initial treatment plan, master treatment plan, integrated diagnostic summary and treatment plan reviews/updates.
The Clinician is responsible for completing the following documents within the following designated timeframes: the orientation note (within the first 3 days), initial treatment plan (date of admission), psychosocial assessment/psychosocial update (7 days), educational learning assessment (7 days), master treatment plan (10 days), treatment plan review (every 30 days), weekly, discharge or transfer summary (within 10 days of discharge and/or within 5 days transfer), and a discharge/transfer note. The Clinician will collaborate with the Treatment Team to formulate the Master Treatment Plan.
Provides education to client/family on community resources.
Facilitates discharge planning process with client/families.
Facilitates clinical group therapy sessions weekly as determined by the clinical group schedule.
Performs individual therapy with client/family at least once weekly as assigned by case load and/or also to provide trouble-shooting/crisis intervention on an as need basis.
Documents in the clinical medical record on an ongoing basis, the assessment of the client's progress/regress and interventions, and case management referrals provided.
Acts as a liaison, providing referrals, between the client and significant others, referral sources, community resources, and other social service agencies, as indicated.
Recognizes, responds to, and assists in psychiatric crisis situations and provide the interventions necessary.
Reports potential crisis situations or problems to the Associate Clinical Director.
Responds and assists in medical emergency situations as directed and needed.
Communicates and alerts the nurse and physician of medication issues of the client.
Communicates effectively with client, staff and physician.
Fills in for any absence of staff on an as needed basis.
Provides community education, as requested.
Participate in JCAHO committees as requested.
Works with administration to enhance the overhaul working environment.
Adheres to Policies & procedures.
Performs other duties assigned by management or leadership.
Qualifications:
MA or MS in a psychological discipline with a minimum of 2 years' experience in the healthcare/counseling setting.
Licensed or eligible for licensure as LADC, LPC, LMFT with focus on chemical dependency.
Clean, valid Mississippi driver's license and current auto insurance.
Computer literate.
Ability to express information/observations both verbally and written in an accurate, professional manner.
Flexibility and dependability a must!Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
