Our client in Billerica, MA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer C# .Net for an immediate direct-hire opportunity.
This software position focuses on the design and development of applications, application-level frameworks, utilities and tools for all aspects of credential-based issuance and authentication systems with specific emphasis on the evaluation and development of image management solutions. The position involves both product-oriented and solution-oriented engineering disciplines.

Essential Job Functions (includes but is not limited to):
Design and develop application software, interfaces, and object-oriented classes in C# using Visual Studio.
Design and implementation of host software systems. Create and maintain web services. Design database schema and develop optimized queries.
Understand and communicate market/product/customer requirements through development of functional specifications and other related design documentation.
Evaluate current product data capture and authentication capabilities with respect to speed and accuracy, and define implementation and optimization techniques based on organic and/or third-party solutions.
Provide guidance on the evolution of the product architecture to best facilitate integration, evaluation and maintenance of new authentication/capture techniques.
Integrate devices based on internal and/or third-party SDKs.
Practice strong testing techniques.
Create and maintain technical documentation on the designs, implementation, and deployment scenarios.
Break down tasks and guide other software developers to maximize team output.
Interact with Systems Engineers, Project/Program Managers, QA, and Integration Engineers.
Interface with partners and customers for integration, deployment, testing and training.

Required Skills
Self-motivated, inquisitive individual who works well in a small team.
Experience with multiple user application frameworks and integration environments including C#, .Net, XML, C++, WCF, HTML, MS IIS, SQL Server.
Microsoft Visual Studio, including deployment projects and MSI installers.
Experience analyzing and correcting software performance issues.
Knowledge of image handling techniques and optimizations (compression/decompression, on-demand retrievals, and multi-threaded processing).
SDK/API development.
Object-oriented class design and implementation.
Software and system architectural design. Common design patterns for both SDK and application development.
Good planning and organizational skills.
Effective communication skills which can be used for technical customer training.
Ability to work with QA team for efficient issue resolution.
Perforce and Subversion code control, TestTrack defect tracking, TinderBox and Jenkins build management, Artifactory repository, and Fortify source code scanning.
Knowledge of digital image processing algorithms. Understanding of tradeoffs between image quality/resolution, image acquisition, storage/retrieval performance and storage capacity overhead.
Knowledge of Optical Character Recognition (OCR), barcode recognition, general pattern recognition, image location, registration, rotation/de-skewing, and color analysis.
Testing automation.
Experience with COM/DCOM and VB/VB.Net.
Optics hardware platforms, video/imaging technology, and USB.
Experience in design and development of lighting systems for imaging products and solutions related to document imaging and machine vision applications.
System admin and networking knowledge, e.g. DHCP, DNS, port mapping, etc.
Knowledge and experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Experience with Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office.
