My Own Place, Inc. is a non-profit agency that provides residential support services to adults with Intellectual & Developmental disabilities is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing/Health Service. Must be highly motivated, flexible, detailed oriented, and keen understanding of the rules and regulations that governs Department on Disabilities Service in the District of Columbia.
Basic Function
The incumbent supervises and manages health services by providing effective leadership and direction to medical/nursing department staff as well as providing direct medical services as needed to all individuals served. The incumbent ensures delivery of health services consistent with the needs of individuals served, agency philosophy, standards of professional practice, administrative policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulation. Works cooperatively with other management staff to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for individuals served, employees and visitors.
Responsibilities:
Supervises nursing staff.
Provides on-going guidance and direction to agency staff in emergency medical situations and day to day duties.
Ensures medical staff coverage 24 hours a day.
Monitors Federal, District & Maryland health standards and regulations as well as existing medical policies and procedures and ensures agency compliance.
Administers medications and renders first aid and emergency support in absence of nurses.
Coordinates the development and review of all care plans and interdisciplinary team involvement maintaining appropriate records and monthly documentation as required.
Prepares and submits program reports, budget data and other required administrative reports including but limited to, disbursement vouchers, time sheets and performance evaluations.
Serves as staff liaison to the Medical Advisory Committee.
Develops policies & procedures relating to agency health needs and institutes Quality Assurance strategies for agency health services.
Ensures appropriate agency-wide staff training and orientation is provided to include specific training on topics such as first aid, CPR, medication administration and any other health related topics, as needed.
Ensures regular inspections and proper safeguards of equipment, supplies, storage of medications, and medical records.
Oversees and supervises nutritional, psychiatric, occupational, speech and language, physical therapy and pharmacy services in conjunction with physician and ensures applicable licensure requirements are maintained.
Conducts and participated in program related meetings, in-service training and conferences.
Represents organization in various community forums as designated by the Chief Executive Officer.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Internal Relationships:
Has daily contact with consultants, medical staff, agency staff and individuals supported.

External Relationships:
Has regular contact with referring agencies and professionals in the medical profession. Interacts with family members.

Qualifications:
Incumbent shall be a licensed Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia and Maryland with at least 10 years of supervisory experience with BSN or higher educational requirement. Knowledge of specific needs of persons with disabilities and at least two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is required. Familiarity with Federal, District & DDA regulations is necessary. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Must be certified to teach DC & Maryland medication technician training

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
