Summary:
Responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of assigned department(s) and affiliated satellite laboratories. Provides supervision and ensures proficieny and quality control of method selection, verification of procedures, resolution of technical problems, remedial actions as warranted and release of test results.
Guides departmental activities of staff to ensure operational and technical reporting accuracy; including the selection and verification of new procedures and instrumentation. Maintains technical oversight of affiliated satellite laboratories.
Participates in the selection process of candidates for employment in the department.
Oversees the daily operations of the department and assigned staff which includes but is not limited to staff performance, disciplinary actions, training and competency.
Establish and maintain departmental procedures and practices to ensure timely, useful, and accurate test results.
Plans and performs diversified duties, using judgment, facts, and conditions to solve problems and take action as determined necessary by assuring that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
Prepares the laboratory for standards of accreditation and tracks proficiency testing results.
Collaborates with the Pathologists to construct and ensure quality performance.
Maintains accessibility to testing personnel at all times testing is performed to provide on-site, telephone or electronic consultation to resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established by the laboratory director.
Develops and maintains budgets and supplies for department functions.
Maintains bench skills to function efficiently as a bench tech and deliver accurate timely results.
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Good judgment and problem solving skills
Ability to assess and resolve technical issues, as relates to departmental operations and equipment
Must have technical knowledge to cover scope of operations.
Must have knowledge of basic business, accounting and statistical analysis.
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Science or related field OR an equivalent combination of experience and education required.
Minimum of six (6) years experience in an accredited laboratory required. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Certification as an MT or MLS from ASCP required. Specialty certification in one of the following disciplines; Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry, or Blood Bank optional.
Knowledge of EPIC, Sunquest, and Tamtron (for Anatomic Pathology) are a plus.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
