Pediatric eye physicians medical office. Established in 1993
Your Role:
Facilitate the flow of billing information by:
Providing our Business Office with patient demographic information
Updating patient demographics and insurance information on computer system
Enter payments within 48 hours of receipt
Process credit card payments daily - print out the appropriate report and give to the person that is responsible for imputing the money on the daily calendar
Calling insurance companies about all claims that are beyond 15 days from date of service
Making follow up calls to insurance companies regarding claims every week
Recording all calls made to insurance companies at six weeks, seven weeks, eight weeks, 10 weeks, etc.
Answer patient and insurance billing questions as appropriate
Answer calls from all CEP departments
Documenting all calls in the patient's chart
Calling patient's with accounts which are 30 days and older from date of service
Making follow up calls to patient accounts every other week
Assisting our patients in understanding why they have a balance
Open and sort mail as assigned
Run Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) on assigned day; electronic and paper claims
Bill the claims in office system (NextGen)
Send the EDI file electronically through the 'ENS Clearinghouse' website
Print all primary and secondary paper claims when the business processor is not working
Mail primary paper claims
Give secondary paper claims with primary Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to the appropriate Billing Specialist
Assist office staff with patient registration, telephone coverage, and other duties as needed
Background Profile:
HS Diploma required
1-2 years of Medical Billing experience
Previous Medical Billing software experience - preferably NextGen
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a MUST
Strong customer service skills
Must be detail oriented and organized
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Effective listening and problem solving skills
