CNC Machinist - Blend Line Technician

PURPOSE Operate and use manufacturing equipment and tools and follow established processes and procedures to safely, efficiently and expeditiously produce a quality product.

o With minimal assistance, set up and operate computer-controlled, in-house designed and assembled machinery to fabricate a non-woven, thermally-bonded fabric for a wide variety of specifications.
o Read production orders to verify quality standards for quantities and specifications.
o Recognize quality issues that affect product performance.
o Perform quality checks in accordance with quality standards & procedures.
o Establish a close working relationship with Maintenance on troubleshooting and machine controls; and assist Maintenance with the preventive maintenance process.
o Monitor machine operation and material availability.
o Function as a reliable operator capable of completing assignments from start to finish.
o Maintain documentation on materials and processing techniques.
o Verify that production parts and processes conform to applicable work instructions.
o Identify and take appropriate action when an operation or process is going or likely to go wrong. o Quickly and repeatedly adjust controls as machine operation and product fabrication dictates.
o Quickly choose and correctly respond to a signal or signals requiring action.
o Recognize when equipment requires or is likely to require maintenance or repair.
o Strive to achieve expert level in functions, capabilities and performance of machinery.
o Strive to incorporate a proficient knowledge of Blend Line products into production operations.
o Maintain a safe and clean operating area.
o Follow the 5S system.
QUALIFICATIONS The requirements described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The minimum qualifications required include, but may not be limited to, the following:
o One year in a production machinery environment, preferred.
o Understand machine controls (CNC) and capabilities.
o Ability to work in a team environment.
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
o Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
o Ability to convert to metric and standard weights and measures.
o Ability to read a standard tape measure.
o Forklift operation, ability to pass an in-house certification and clean driving record, a plus.
o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. o Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
o High School Diploma and/or GED.
o Related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
