The position is responsible for a variety of functions related to the design and development of packaging containers to ensure product integrity, functionality and appeal. The position will be responsible for developing and maintaining packaging specifications for all primary and secondary containers. The position requires attention to detail, accuracy in information retention and a high degree of creativity, initiative and aesthetic appreciation. The incumbent will identify long term and short term goals in regards to reducing material costs in the packaging areas for all aseptic blow, fill, seal and packaging lines at the Woodstock facility.
o Tests, analyzes and selects materials for packaging based on product usage needs, durability, environmental impact and cost effectiveness.
o Utilize supplier network to suggest and sample project appropriate packaging and closure options. Maintain library of submissions for future work.
o Author and issue component specifications for sign off and bill of material inclusion after agreement with suppliers, manufacturers and internal team.
o Test packaging components according to industry accepted protocols and record data accurately - procure samples needed from suppliers and distributors to meet timeline goals.
o Work with component suppliers to correct any packaging that is found to be outside of specification and shows any difficulty in the intended function of the end product.
o Evaluate new components for second sourcing opportunities and cost savings
o Develop corrugate secondary packaging with outside resources to comply with specific ship testing protocols and also meet cost and environmental objectives.
o Generate pallet patterns with inputs from outside sources and supply chain requirements
o Manage and update data base with item dimensions to support manufacturing operations.
o Manage any outside packaging testing and maintain record of reports when complete. Summarize results and recommend actions at completion of testing to best interests of the business.
o Schedule and conduct line tests as necessary for new products and communicate results to internal and external parties as necessary.
o Test and specify label materials for aesthetic integrity during manufacturing, product shelf life and consumer usage.
o Investigate and advise innovations in primary packaging materials for consumer appeal, environmental impact improvement and cost improvement.
o Create drawings of all package materials as well as any dedicated tooling used in manufacturing.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in primary, secondary and tertiary packaging development, packaging for clinical/commercial drug products or combination products. 8-10 years of experience preferred. o Knowledge of change control and validation required including experience with equipment FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ. o Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day.
Qualifications:
o Bachelor of Science in Packaging Engineering, related Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
o A minimum of 5 years of experience in primary, secondary and tertiary packaging development, packaging for clinical/commercial drug products or combination products. 8-10 years of experience preferred.
o Knowledge of change control and validation required including experience with equipment FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ. and development of qualification protocols/reports for packaging and shipping activities.
o Experience with packaging equipment in the pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetic industry a plus. (Packaging equipment includes: pouching equipment, cartoners, labeling equipment, scanners, and vision systems.)
o Experience working in a cGMP controlled environment.
o Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing / Professional Project Management skills a plus.
o Demonstrated ability to plan and implement projects that improve the operational effectiveness of packaging lines
o Demonstrated intermediate mathematical aptitude.
o High level of attention to detail.
o Excellent documentation skills.
o Strong Mechanical aptitude.
o Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to present information
o A full complement of business computer literacy skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, database software etc.) is preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
