The incumbent of this position will work in the Process Improvement Section of the Office of Quality, Safety, and Value (QSV) for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
This position provides oversight and leadership for the implementation, spread, and maintenance of Process lmprovement (PI) processes and techniques across the health care system.
The incumbent will play a critical role in leading the effort to deploy the Service Improvement Model (SIM), VAPAHCS' lean management system, and meet or exceed performance expectations related to access, patient flow, and timely, efficient and cost effective healthcare and administrative processes throughout the health care system.
The incumbent will ensure that VAPAHCS Pl plans and objectives are strategically aligned with the Network 21 and national systems redesign initiatives.
They will provides specialized support services and guidance in the analysis of current processes and the team based redesign and implementation of new processes, thus helping the healthcare system to achieve its goal to improve access and care for all veterans.
Additionally, the Pl Specialist's responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:
launching and supporting Pl teams, coaching and training Pl teams, providing expertise on Pl for consultation calls and visits, preparing aggregate reports and analysis of performance for the healthcare system, network and VHA, and organizing and supporting local and Network Systems Redesign educational events and activities.
The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coordinating ongoing data collection and analysis and uses knowledge of Lean and Pl principles to assess organizational performancePerforming a continuing evaluation and analysis of areas targeted for Pl to verify program effectiveness and identify areas requiring management attention.
Serving on appropriate committees and all strategic planning initiatives related to Pl at the local level.
Participating in some national and all network systems redesign conference calls and obtains useful and pertinent information to facilitate local advancement of process improvement.
Serving as facilitator and project manager for Rapid Process Improvement Workshops and process improvement projects leading the effort to ensure that project teams remain on target/timeline to meet their identified change objectives.
Providing training and consultative services on Pl tools and techniques for employees engaged in process improvement efforts.
Keeping track of the education being provided by recording the progress made by all levels of health care system.
Providing advice to operating managers and supervisors on how SIM can assist in accomplishing hospital, service and departmental missions and programmatic objectives.
Contributing to the professional growth and development of effective teams and individuals on the team and ensures that staff is trained in appropriate Pl principles and equipped with the proper tools necessary for successful Pl.
Engaging in local aspects of collaborative and training opportunities including network led initiatives, systems redesign teleconferences and other national and network learning opportunities.
Identifying the appropriate target audiences for each training opportunity and encourages participation of designated facility staff.
Serving as an instructor for the SIM education and communication program to include facility staff, physicians, house staff, veteran service organizations and patients.
Encouraging participation of staff in problem solving activities by providing an environment conducive for innovation and creativity.
Assisting with designing work processes and systems that are responsive to customer needs and uses customer feedback to plan and improve services.
Acting as a liaison and handles communication related to SIM throughout the facility as appropriate.
Evaluating all clinical and administrative areas to facilitate the spread of SIM throughout the health care system.
Working with services to develop area-specific metrics for objectively tracking their progress with the Pl projects, coordinates data-collection and display efforts for regular reporting to health care system management and appropriate regional and national systems redesign committees.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
