The VMware Administration team is looking for a highly motivated, customer service oriented individual to help support VMware ESXi infrastructure. The desired candidate will have experience with VMware vCenter 5.x, Update Manager, Orchestrator, Operations Manager, Converter, Heartbeat, View, and Site Recovery Manager Products. A thorough knowledge of ESXi 5.x is required.
The main responsibilities include installation, configuration tuning and troubleshooting of VMware hypervisors and taking part in a 24x7 on call support rotation. The administrator will provide guidance to end users to ensure compliance with Platform Services policies and procedures. The ability to communicate with all levels of the organization is critical.
Description:
Required VMware specific skills:
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting issues on ESXi 5.x
- Experience building ESXi host and clusters
- Experience opening and managing support requests with VMware
- Experience performing and troubleshooting physical to virtual server migrations
Valuable additional Skills:
- Good comfort level with PowerShell (PowerCLI) and/or Perl (vSphereCLI) scripting environments for automation
- Experience in supporting Active Directory infrastructure
- Current VCP certification

Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to tier 1 for successful issue resolution, troubleshooting, and procedure implementation for daily activities
- Create and update procedure documentation for tier 1 and 2
- Server as escalation point for issues from tier 1 to assure timely and reliable resolution
- Perform change management activities to review tier 1 and 2 changes to ensure compliance with required controls
- Participate in on-call rotation providing support for tier 1 escalations.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
